🌟 Meet Max Baker, a 10-year-old from Penarth who’s just set a Guinness World Record as the youngest male video game developer! 🎮 Max achieved this incredible feat while creating his game, Gravity Parkour 2.0, over four intense hours at Penarth Library Makerspace. The game is jam-packed with challenges, from moving platforms to a doppelgänger character!

Guinness officially recognised Max’s ingenious work months later, and his reaction? Pure excitement, with celebrations around the house! His brother Clark, 7, joined in the fun, bouncing along with joy.

Max’s coding adventure started in year two when he tackled a classroom project to make a boat-racing game using Scratch. He says that initial spark ignited his passion for coding and he’s been creating at home ever since. His latest ventures include participating in the GMTK Game Jam, where he cleverly adapted his project to overcome a coding hiccup.

Aside from his coding brilliance, Max is balancing school and other hobbies. “It’s more of a hobby, but I try to code as much as I can,” Max says, hinting at future aspirations in digital skills, computer science, or maybe even creative writing.
Max credits much of his success to the amazing VOGBots coding club at the Makerspace. Here, young minds like his dive into robotics and programming with state-of-the-art tools like 3D printers and laser cutters. Simon Alexander, a staff member, explains how they encourage kids to explore what intrigues them the most.
This young coder’s story is a testament to what passion and creativity can achieve. With Max leading the way, who knows what other digital frontiers young minds will conquer next? 🚀✨ #GuinnessWorldRecord #YoungInnovator #CodingGenius #Inspiration
