🚨 Tax Alert! 🚨 Heading into the final stretch for your tax returns! HMRC is giving a heads-up to 3.3 million people—don’t risk that £100 fine. If you haven’t submitted your tax return yet, you have just 8 days to do so, with the deadline set for 31st January.

👉 Pro tip: Don’t leave it till the last minute! Filing sooner means peace of mind and, if you owe any tax, some time to sort out your payment. Worried about paying on time? Search ‘difficulties paying HMRC’ on GOV.UK for some handy guidance on setting up a payment plan.

The deadline lands on a Saturday this year 🎯 so if you need to speak to someone at HMRC, their phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Just a heads-up: they’ll close on Friday, January 30 and won’t reopen until February 2.

⏰ Miss the deadline, and here’s what happens:
– £100 automatic fine, yep, even if you don’t owe any tax
– After 3 months: £10 daily penalties, max £900
– After 6 months: Additional 5% of tax due or £300
– After 12 months: Another 5% or £300
And don’t forget, there’s more for paying late! 📅 Penalties at 5% of unpaid tax at 30 days, 6 months, and 12 months plus interest.
💡Top tip: HMRC understands life happens. If you have a reasonable excuse for missing the deadline, make sure to let them know.
