🌟 Women, here’s something to chat about over a cuppa! A new study suggests starting hormone replacement therapy (HRT) 10 years before menopause could significantly reduce your risk of developing breast cancer, having a heart attack, or suffering a stroke by a whopping 60%!

The journey to menopause, known as perimenopause, often features symptoms like irregular periods and mood swings – a rough ride, we know. But what might surprise you is that beginning HRT during this phase could be a game changer for long-term health.

Conducted in the US, this research analysed over 120 million patient records to compare health outcomes for women using oestrogen therapy before menopause versus those starting later or not at all. The results? Those starting HRT early had significantly lower health risks compared to the others.
But hey, it’s always best to chat with your GP about what’s right for you. It’s a personal choice with lots to consider. After all, while HRT has its benefits, there are small associated risks, and everyone’s situation is unique.
Dr Kotryna Temcinaite from Breast Cancer Now reminds us: whether and when to start taking HRT is a personal choice. While the findings are promising, further research is needed to fully understand the benefits and risks of oestrogen-only HRT.
