🩺✨ Private clinics are stepping up their game! They’ve increased NHS-related procedures and appointments by almost 500,000 this year, putting them at 6.15 million. This means shorter waits for treatment and fairness for all NHS patients in England. 🏥

Health Secretary Wes Streeting is on a mission to end the “two-tier” system, ensuring timely care for everyone, not just those who can afford it. By using private sector capacity, around 10% of elective NHS activities are handled by private providers. 📈💪

Between August 2024 and September 2025, private clinics performed an average of 19,000 surgeries and 100,000 outpatient appointments weekly, treating over 1.1 million patients! Mr Streeting says, “I’ll do everything I can to get NHS patients treated faster, free at point of use.” 🌟
The government’s plan involves more than just private providers. They’re also boosting NHS capacity by using community diagnostic centres (CDCs), and scheduling surgeries on evenings and weekends. The introduction of modern tech like robotic surgery is part of the mix too! 🤖
These efforts have paid off with five million additional appointments and a 200,000 reduction in waiting lists. David Hare from the Independent Healthcare Providers Network highlights the vital role private hospitals play in this success, showing just how crucial this alliance is for NHS treatment. 🏆
However, shadow health secretary Stuart Andrew remains sceptical, noting that despite improvements, Labour is still not hitting their NHS waiting-time targets. There’s still a way to go, but it’s a step in the right direction! ⏳🚀
