Two cousins have been found guilty of horrifying crimes following a trial that shocked the nation. Manzorr Hussain and Imtiaz Ali, former market stallholders, were convicted of sexually abusing vulnerable teenage girls after grooming them in the late 1990s. Their disturbing actions took place across various locations, including Bury and parts of Wales.

The pair lured their victims with promises of alcohol and drugs, subjecting them to unthinkable abuse. Ali orchestrated “sex parties” where multiple men preyed on the young girls, while Hussain forced one to perform sex acts on a filthy mattress. The victims, aged between 13 and 16 at the time, were threatened with abandonment on the moors if they didn’t comply.
The abuse unraveled when victims courageously came forward, recounting the trauma they endured over two decades ago. Hussain, 54, received convictions for seven counts of rape, while Ali, 53, was found guilty of five counts of rape and other sexual offences.

Claire Brinton, a specialist prosecutor, praised the victims’ bravery, acknowledging their strength in reliving these traumatic experiences in court. Greater Manchester Police Sergeant Daniel Whittaker highlighted the case as a stark reminder of the predatory behaviours targeting vulnerable youth, emphasising the deceit, manipulation, and disregard shown by the culprits.
This case is a harrowing reminder of the vigilance needed to protect vulnerable individuals from those who exploit positions of trust. As the justice system prepares to sentence these men on December 8, the courage of the women who came forward remains a beacon of hope for others who have suffered in silence.
