Mum-of-two, Sara Birnie, experienced a shocking twist when her dizzy spells and fainting were found to be caused by a tiny brain tumour. Initially misdiagnosed as low blood pressure, doctors discovered a grain-sized growth blocking fluid flow in her brain. After fainting twice during a lunch outing, Sara was rushed to the hospital and received emergency brain surgery the following day. Her journey from a hopeful check-up to life-saving surgery was nothing short of terrifying.

Sara shared how overwhelming it was to face the possibility of not seeing her children again. But after a successful procedure and an emotional diagnosis revealing a non-cancerous tumour, Sara felt she was given a second chance at life. Now, she cherishes every moment with her family, savouring the little things she once took for granted.

With renewed hope and determination, Sara is stepping forward to support Brain Tumour Research by participating in the 99 Miles in November challenge. She’s raising funds to ensure more families can receive news as she did. “Every step I take,” Sara says, “is for those still fighting and to honour my journey. Together with my friends, we’ll turn something so frightening into a positive force.”
