A primary school in Llanelli was unexpectedly closed down on Monday due to a frightening online threat suggesting armed individuals would arrive with knives. The announcement led to a significant police operation, with at least 13 units, including firearms and dog teams, rushing to Dafen CP School and the surrounding areas to ensure everyone’s safety.

The alert triggered a “critical incident” status, as authorities took swift action following the early-morning threat report. Fortunately, after thorough investigations, the risk was assessed to have passed, with the source of the threat identified as a single, anonymous and untraceable individual. Thankfully, there’s no ongoing investigation or wider threat to other local schools or the community.
Police Superintendent Chris Neve expressed understanding regarding the anxiety this has created among parents and locals, stating that maintaining safety and the integrity of the inquiry were top priorities. An increased police presence will remain visible around Llanelli schools for reassurance.

The quick response highlights the importance of vigilance, especially in school environments. While the incident has now been deemed safe, the community is encouraged to stay alert and rely on official communications for information.
