🌧️🚧 Bad News for Cardiff’s Beloved Landmark: St Andrew’s Church Temporarily Shuts Its Doors!

Storm damage has struck a historic gem in Roath, leaving the iconic St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, affectionately known as “the Scottish Church on the corner,” temporarily closed for repairs. With a history stretching back to 1887, this Grade II* listed treasure has been a bustling hub for local groups and a warm gathering space for the community.

The church has catered to locals with everything from Scout meetings to Zumba sessions, yet a recent storm has caused significant damage to the roof, leaving leaders with no choice but to take immediate action to ensure safety. Access has been restricted until expert repairs can be completed, which is expected to take 6-8 weeks.

Reverend David Salsbury has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the many organisations, including the beloved Cardiff Theatre Café, which now must pause activities until it’s safe to return.
Despite challenges, community spirit remains undeterred. A fundraising effort is underway via GoFundMe to help cover the extensive repair costs and secure the future of this treasured building. Every donation will help bring St Andrew’s back to life, continuing its legacy as a vibrant part of Cardiff’s cultural and community fabric. 🏗️❤️
Let’s rally behind this cause and ensure that St Andrew’s can keep welcoming us all with open doors for another century! 💒
