Tragic news from Pembrokeshire as a local man, Mark Causey, was found collapsed on his bathroom floor by police, having been there for four days. Mark, aged 61, was a marathon runner and motorbike enthusiast known for his lively spirit and love for restoring bikes. His wife, Rosalind, became worried after not hearing from him and checked their home webcam, where she last saw him looking unwell. Her concerns led to a police welfare check, which resulted in the heartbreaking discovery.

Despite severe dehydration leading to kidney failure, Mark showed strength and was discharged from hospital after a three-week battle. However, his hopes were dashed when doctors later diagnosed him with glioblastoma, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer with very limited treatment options.

Rosalind reflected, “He was determined to fight… he wanted nothing more than to ride his restored motorcycle one last time.” Mark’s brave fight and indomitable spirit remained, even though his health continued to decline. He passed away in September 2024, surrounded by loved ones and honoured with a poignant motorcycle farewell by the community.
In memory of Mark and to raise awareness of the urgent need for research, Rosalind is participating in the “99 Miles in November” challenge organised by Brain Tumour Research. This initiative seeks to fund research efforts and ultimately find a cure for brain tumours, which remain a leading cause of death in young adults.
Rosalind shared, “I’m walking 99 miles this November for Mark… Research is the only way we’ll prevent others from experiencing this.” Her strength and commitment inspire others to join this crucial cause. Let’s rally together, support Rosalind, and honour Mark’s memory by fighting to change the future for those affected by this devastating disease.
