📢 **Calling for Justice for Ex-Steelworkers!**

Imagine working for decades, paying into a pension pot, only to receive a fraction of what you’re owed. 😟 That’s the reality for many former Allied Steel and Wire (ASW) workers from Cardiff. The steel company went bust in 2002, leading to a shocking pension shortfall that slashed their hard-earned savings by 85%. Almost 900 workers were caught in this financial nightmare, left with a grim outlook for their retirement.

In 2007, a compensation scheme promised to cover 90% of their pension losses, but did not account for inflation, leaving many high and dry. Over the years, advocates like John Benson have continuously fought to bring about change. He, along with others, have faced economic hardship and struggle daily with a pension that barely scratches the surface of what they were promised.
🎙️ Recently, First Minister Eluned Morgan voiced support for the cause, urging the UK Government to address this long-standing injustice. The call echoes those of others who’ve seen steps taken for similar cases, highlighting the inconsistency in justice served.
Hope is on the horizon! Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced that, from 2027, those affected by scandals like ASW will receive inflation-linked increases. However, the question remains: why should these workers wait another second for fairness?
The heartfelt plea from South Wales: it’s time to right this wrong and ensure pensioners get what they have earned. 🛠️
