Cameron broke free with a linebreak but was tackled fiercely from behind, resulting in a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula. Instantly, the ref blew the whistle, and physios from both teams rushed to the scene. A nasty sight unfolded as Jones’ bone protruded and his ankle was twisted at a gruesome angle.

Thanks to swift and expert care from Kidwelly’s Jordan Davies and Hendy’s Heledd Clarke and Cerys Thomas, Cameron was stabilised while an ambulance was called. It arrived in just over an hour, after which he was swiftly transported to Morriston Hospital in Swansea for emergency surgery.

Sending huge appreciation to Hendy RFC, who not only managed the on-field crisis adeptly but kept spirits lifted with tea and coffee for all. Cameron underwent surgery, where six screws and a plate were put in to mend the injuries. A beloved figure at the club, Cameron now faces a lengthy recovery ahead.
