📸✨ These awe-inspiring photos of Welsh mountains have snagged top honours! The UK Mountain Photo of the Year Award 2025 has just crowned its winners, with all top three images featuring the majestic peaks of Wales. 🏔️

Cormac Downes from Newport took the number one spot with a breathtaking shot of Pen y Fan. His photo, capturing a stunning cloud inversion beneath the summit, exudes the solitude and wonder of mountain adventures. The image was snapped after Cormac braved the early hours, hiking in the dark to witness nature’s magic at its finest. Judges were captivated by the dreamlike scene, highlighting the mystical play of light and shadow.

Cormac shared his excitement, saying, “Winning is incredible! Each sleepless night and foggy climb was worth it for this moment. Mountain photography is all about the unpredictability – each visit presents new opportunities and challenges.”
Runner-up honours went to Sandra Grinevicius from Salisbury for capturing the first light on Yr Wyddfa, while third place was claimed by Leszek Golombiewski from Blackwood with his enchanting winter night shot of Pen y Fan.
Oli Reed, editor of Trail Magazine, summed it up perfectly: “Cormac’s image embodies everything about outdoor adventure – embracing nature and experiencing Britain’s stunning landscapes in a way few do.”
