π A Grim Tale of Injustice and Finally, a Vindication π¨ββοΈπ

Imagine being blamed, tried, and hanged for crimes you didnβt commit. π’ This was the reality faced by Welshman Timothy Evans back in 1950. He was executed for the horrific murders of his wife Beryl and baby daughter Geraldine β crimes later discovered to have been committed by a notorious serial killer named John Christie.
Christie was a seemingly mild-mannered post office clerk who turned out to be a vile necrophile and serial killer. While Evans was tragically executed, Christie continued his murder spree, eventually caught and exposed for his chilling crimes. Among his victims were Beryl and little Geraldine.

Evansβ wrongful conviction became a lightning rod for the campaign to abolish capital punishment in the UK. His tragic story highlighted serious flaws in the justice system β from coerced confessions to a failure to fully investigate evidence.
Thanks to years of campaigning, Evans was posthumously exonerated in 2004. Though his conviction wasn’t formally overturned, leading judges declared Evans innocent of the murders, recognising the grave miscarriage of justice he suffered. π
Evans’ story remains a powerful reminder of the need for a fair justice system and the dangers of hasty convictions. His family can now find some peace, knowing the truth is recognised. π #JusticeForTimothy #NeverForget #Innocent
