In a shocking court case, a primary school teacher from Cardiff has been convicted of serious misconduct involving a teenage girl. Johnathan Morgan, 35, found himself in hot water after being acquitted of sexual assault charges but convicted of more heinous acts. Despite knowing the girl’s age, Morgan pursued conversation by first emailing her through his school account and later connecting on social media.

He made bold claims about his connections to celebrities and athletes to gain the girl’s trust. Morgan applied pressure on her to send photos, and when she initially sent altered images, he demanded real ones, persistently pressuring her until she complied.

Morgan didn’t stop there. He sent explicit images of himself, claiming some were sent “by mistake.” The most damning evidence involved videos of himself performing explicit acts in the bath and on the sofa. In court, he faced counts of inciting the young girl to engage in or watch sexual activity. Although he was found not guilty of some charges, the court still held him accountable for these disturbing actions.
Judge Richard Kember announced that Morgan’s sentencing would take place at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on February 26, once a pre-sentence report is prepared. As the legal process unfolds, this case serves as a stark reminder of the risks our young people face in both virtual and real-life interactions. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and keep the conversation going with the younger ones in your lives.
