Vital Rail Link in Wales Set to Close Temporarily for Extensive Upgrades

๐Ÿš‰ Heads up, commuters! A major rail line in Wales is closing for 11 days for some much-needed upgrades. From 26th January to 6th February, and again on 8th February, trains between Port Talbot Parkway and Swansea will be replaced by buses as Network Rail gets to work.

The refurbishment is focused on the area near the Landore Viaduct close to Swansea Football Stadium and affects services from Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway. So, if youโ€™re planning a trip to London, note that your Great Western services will start and end at Port Talbot with revised schedules.

Traffic Updates
Renting a car instead? Heart of Wales Line services will operate to and from Carmarthen, but with some changes, especially on January 27th. Travelling between Llanelli, Carmarthen, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock, or Fishguard Harbour? Check for amended timetables!

On weekends, rail replacement buses will take you from Cardiff Central to Bridgend to Swansea, while Maesteg to Cardiff services make all the usual stops between Cardiff and Bridgend. Buses will also cover routes on 8th February from Cardiff to Bridgend to Port Talbot.
