Exciting news for Llanelli! πΎποΈ Padel courts might soon join the lineup at Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club, sparing local sports enthusiasts those trips to Swansea. The club has put in a proposal to Carmarthenshire Council for two brand new padel courts, set to accompany its existing tennis and squash facilities. For those new to it, padel is played on a smaller court with walls, blending tennis and squash elements. It’s all the rage right now!

With plans to utilise a derelict spot that once housed hard tennis courts, the addition would feature glass rebound walls, mesh panels, and low-level lighting, ensuring minimal noise disruption to nearby residents. Plus, just like the tennis and squash courts, non-members can also enjoy day bookings.

The club, boasting over 200 members, sees this as a fantastic way to grow and future-proof its offerings, underpinned by a supportive 99-year lease with the Llanelli Athletic Association.
Local schools are keen supporters of the facility, and the club hopes to continue its role as a vibrant hub for the community. In the background, the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club is also making another attempt to introduce its own padel courts after a previous setback. They’re working on reorientating their plans and managing noise to win approval.
Fingers crossed for more padel action in our area soon! π Stay tuned for updates!
