A heartfelt goodbye was given to Welsh football legend Terry Yorath, as he was laid to rest with a touching tribute on Monday. The 75-year-old former Leeds United star and Wales manager, passed away earlier this month after a brief illness. The funeral took place at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Leeds, witnessing an emotional gathering from sports and TV worlds. Among the pallbearers was Yorath’s grandson, Reuben, supported by his father Kenny Logan, a former rugby international, and mother, TV presenter Gabby Logan.

As the hearse arrived, the Welsh flag proudly adorned the back window. Floral tributes reading ‘Dad’ and ‘Granddad’ accompanied the coffin, along with flowers in Leeds United’s colours. Amidst this poignant moment, the Welsh national anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, played as Reuben and the pallbearers carried the coffin into the church. The crowd included former Wales manager Chris Coleman, commentator Bryn Law, and ex-Bradford City players Stuart McCall and Don Goodman, all there to pay their respects.

In a moving tribute, Gabby Logan honoured her father, describing him as a “warrior on the football pitch” who was “kind-hearted and generous” in life. On social media, she shared her gratitude for the love and comfort received through messages, reflecting on the cherished memories and life lessons her father shared with her and expressing thanks to the hospital staff who cared for him.
Terry Yorath’s legacy in football and in his family’s hearts will be remembered forever.
