Sad news for pub lovers! The Revolution Bars Group, famous for Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba venues, is closing 21 locations across the UK, affecting 591 jobs. Cardiff’s beloved Revolution in Castle Quarter Arcades and Revolucion de Cuba at the Friary are on the list. The company has entered administration but is in advanced talks for a potential sale.

The closure will see 14 Revolution Bars, six Revolucion de Cuba sites, and one Peach Pubs division pub saying goodbye. The silver lining? FTI administrators have secured deals to save 41 sites and 1,582 jobs, with Neos Hospitality Group, operators of Barbara’s Bier Haus and Bonnie Rogues, acquiring the Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba brands. Meanwhile, the remaining Peach Pubs business has been snapped up by the new Coral Pub Company.

Here’s a quick rundown of the shutdown locations for Revolution Bars: Manchester (Oxford Road and Parsonage Gardens), Huddersfield, Leicester, Glasgow (Renfield Street), Cardiff, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Ipswich, Plymouth, Durham, Exeter, and Preston. For Revolucion de Cuba, it’s Cardiff, Derby, Liverpool, Reading, Harrogate, and Aberdeen. Also, the Almanack pub in Kenilworth is set to close.

Let’s hope for positive news soon on future developments regarding the company’s plans to preserve value and jobs. A heartfelt goodbye to these iconic venues that have been part of our lively social scene. 🍸🍺
