🚨 Cable Theft Drama Stopped in Its Tracks! 🚨

In the wee hours of New Year’s Eve, three individuals were caught red-handed trying to pilfer cables from the railway near Pentrebach. Thanks to hidden security cameras along the Core Valley Lines, Transport for Wales and South Wales Police swooped in just in time to prevent the heist.
The suspects were nabbed on the spot and charged with attempted theft. While they managed to slice through over 125 metres of cable, potential profits of nearly £2,000 were interrupted. But there’s more to the story—the real damage could have cost taxpayers over £750,000 in repairs, delays, and cancellations.

🎥 A Testament to Teamwork: This incident showcases the vigilant partnership between Transport for Wales and the local police force. With the South Wales Metro network now mostly electrified, any meddling with cables is a dangerous gamble.
Loren Curry, the project director for the Core Valley Lines, expressed gratitude to the swift actions of their security team, stressing that these arrests are a clear message against such criminal behaviour. Every theft not only hits the wallet but causes a wave of disruption across communities relying on these services. 🚆💡
