🚆**Train Travel Troubles in Wales!**🚆

It was a bumpy ride for commuters in Wales last year, with 4% of all Transport for Wales trains cancelled in 2025. That’s over 14,000 cancelled journeys, folks! 📉

Why so many missed trains? Fleet issues topped the list—think unit shortages and pesky system faults leading to over 5,000 cancellations. But wait, there’s more! Points failures accounted for 880 cancellations, while trespassing incidents caused another 766.5. And let’s not forget about the costly menace of cable vandalism and theft, responsible for 237.5 missed trains, with two incidents alone setting the company back a whopping £750,000. Yikes! 💸
Here’s a quick look at the worst routes for cancellations:
1️⃣ Penarth to Coryton & Caerphilly – 6% cancelled
2️⃣ Manchester to Cardiff – 5.4% cancelled
3️⃣ Cardiff Bay to Cardiff Queen Street & Pontypridd – 4.9% cancelled
4️⃣ Barry Island to Rhymney & Bargoed – 4.7% cancelled
5️⃣ Aberdare to Merthyr Tydfil – 4.7% cancelled
Even driver-related issues led to 843 cancellations, and severe flooding threw its own wrench into travel plans, causing just over 250 cancellations. 🌧️
While the reasons are many, it’s clear that catching a train in Wales last year was a bit of a gamble. How was your train travel experience? 🤔 Let us know in the comments below!
