Storm, aged 19, was in the dock accused of driving two of the arsonists to the scene in Ferndale from Weston-super-Mare. However, the jury at Cardiff Crown Court was convinced by her defence that she had no idea of their sinister plan and drove them out of fear.

While Storm walks free, those she drove—Alfie Wheeler, Auryn Gustur, and Connor Pitt—have pleaded guilty to arson with intent to endanger life. Another individual, Lewis Manito, admitted to arson and trying to cover his tracks.

In court, prosecutor Marian Lewis painted a grim picture of the events, revealing that the home belonged to Carol Ford, whose grandson owed a hefty drug debt to a notorious crime gang from Weston-super-Mare.

On the night of the inferno, Mrs. Ford, aged 82, was woken by a loud bang, only to find her blinds engulfed in flames. Incredibly, despite her limited mobility, she managed to escape in her nightclothes as fire and smoke consumed the house. Neighbours rushed to her aid after hearing her screams. Her kitchen was obliterated by the force of the fire, and her once cherished home—with all its memories—was lost.

In a heart-wrenching statement, Mrs. Ford described the terrifying ordeal and the immense loss she has suffered. Her home of 61 years, filled with a lifetime of possessions, was left in ruins.

As Storm shed tears of relief upon hearing the verdict, the sentencing for the other involved parties is still to come. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds. 📰✨
