Wondering if your pricey toothpaste is really worth it? I took on the challenge of testing supermarket own-brand toothpastes, and the results might surprise you! 💸🦷

With prices on the rise, I decided to ditch my trusty old brand for a bit and explore what supermarkets have to offer. Could they really compete with the likes of Colgate? Let’s find out! 🛒✨
First up, the Tesco Essential Cavity Protection Toothpaste turned out to be a hidden gem. At just 50p for 100ml, it offered a fresh minty taste with fluoride goodness. Honestly, it impressed me so much that I’m considering making it my go-to, earning a stellar score of 9.5/10!

Morrisons kept it frugal at 50p too. It had a pleasant minty flavour, though lacked a bit in the ‘wow’ factor. Still, for the price, it’s a solid option. Scored a respectable 6/10.
Sainsbury’s, with its Everyday Dental Sensitive Toothpaste, helped with sensitivity but missed the mark on taste, leaving me searching for that minty freshness. Priced at £1, it earned 6/10 for effectiveness but not much else.

Asda’s 6-in-1 was a bit of a letdown, unfortunately. Although attractively priced at 98p, it left my mouth feeling dry. Not ideal! It scored only 2/10.
Aldi’s Dentitex Whitening Toothpaste was 60p and had potential, but ultimately left me underwhelmed. The flavour didn’t wow me, and the freshness didn’t last, so it also scored 2/10.
And as for my old standby, Colgate Total Original Protection: while it’s a household name with a £3 price tag, it didn’t quite justify the cost this time. Scored just 3/10 in my test. 🤷♀️
Who would’ve thought that a 50p tube could outshine a £3 giant? If you’re looking to save some pennies without compromising on a fresh feel, give these supermarket contenders a shot!
