A young dad’s story has touched hearts after his persistent stomach pains, initially dismissed as a result of fizzy drinks, turned out to be an incurable form of cancer. Meet Tom Hayman, a 28-year-old from Warrington with a tragic tale. Despite months of severe pain, weight loss, and repeated doctor visits, his symptoms were brushed off as acid reflux, believed to be too young for cancer.

Tom’s fiancée, Mary, recalls their frustration: “He’s a tall lad who loves his food, but suddenly he couldn’t eat without pain. We knew something wasn’t right, but each time we were told there was nothing to worry about.” Finally, scans revealed the true cause: a neuroendocrine tumour that started in his pancreas and spread to his liver.

Mary shared the heartbreaking moment they received the diagnosis: “Hearing the word cancer was overwhelming. We couldn’t process it; our world stopped. You think about your future – buying a house, getting married, having more children – and suddenly, all those plans are uncertain.”
With limited treatment options in the UK, Tom’s hope lies in Germany, where doctors offer advanced therapy. The family is aiming to raise £50,000 for medical expenses, travel, and accommodation.
Despite the challenges, Tom remains remarkably positive, believing in the power of positive thinking. Their young son Ronnie, unaware of the full situation, senses when something’s wrong and the family is ensuring life remains as normal as possible for him.
By sharing their story, they hope to raise awareness, especially for young individuals who might have their symptoms ignored. If you can, please support their fundraiser to give Tom the best chance possible. To donate, visit: [GoFundMe link]
