Ajax midfielder Kian Fitz-Jim has opened up about why his January move didn’t happen, despite interest from Swansea City. Rumours were swirling that the Swans had their sights set on the 22-year-old as the transfer window closed. However, Fitz-Jim’s heart was set on a move to Germany, which sadly didn’t come to fruition.

According to the Dutch media, Swansea showed a keen interest but ultimately, Fitz-Jim stayed with Ajax, where he’s been less than thrilled with his role this season. He’s made just three starts under the new interim manager Fred Grim, leading to a bit of frustration for the young midfielder.
Reflecting on the transfer window, Fitz-Jim revealed, “The transfer window was actually quite quiet for me. Just a few things started to happen towards the end. There were some interesting options then. I really wanted to go there,” he mentioned regarding the German interest, but acknowledged that some last-minute complications held things back.

As for his time at Ajax, Fitz-Jim admitted, “I’m certainly not happy with my role. And sometimes you hope for a bit more support. But anyway, I’m still here now and I’m fully focused on Ajax. I love this club and I’m just very happy here.”
Whether the Swans will revisit their interest in him over the summer remains uncertain. Until then, Fitz-Jim seems intent on making the most of his current situation, despite some hurdles. Let’s see what the next window holds for this promising talent!
