Exciting news for the Rhondda Fach! Over the next decade, this area is set to benefit from a whopping £20 million investment, thanks to the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has announced that neighbourhoods like Tylorstown, Maerdy, Ferndale, Ynyshir, and Wattstown will see significant regeneration efforts.

A new neighbourhood board will lead the charge, including local residents to ensure community-driven decisions. Together, they’ll develop a 10-year vision, supported by a robust regeneration plan in partnership with the council.

The funds will roll out at £2 million annually, with a neighbourhood board steering the development. This board will work alongside an independent chair to champion the area and ensure local voices are heard.
The programme aims to address socio-economic challenges and breathe new life into the Rhondda Fach, enhancing local town centres and supporting community organisations across the region. Expect fresh changes and transformations aimed at improving community life and revitalising the area.
Membership for the board will be decided this summer, and come winter, they will submit their regeneration plans for review. By spring 2027, the first phase of funding is expected to kick off, bringing these exciting plans to life.
Stay tuned for updates as this inspiring journey unfolds—it’s a brilliant opportunity to watch communities grow stronger and more vibrant!
