**Aaron Ramsey Reflects on Interim Role as Cardiff City’s Season Ends**
Aaron Ramsey, interim head coach and legendary Welsh international, has hinted he may remain at Cardiff City in a more permanent capacity, following the club’s last match of the Championship season. Despite a spirited performance, the Bluebirds suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Norwich City at Carrow Road—concluding a challenging campaign that has seen them relegated.
Ramsey, who is also a lifelong Cardiff supporter, took the reins for the final three matches of the season. After the final whistle in Norwich, he spoke candidly with reporters about his mixed emotions and the uncertain future for both himself and the club.
“I am a Cardiff fan and know what the club has been going through, as well as the questions being asked by supporters,” Ramsey reflected. “I am open to helping realign things here. I have loved every minute of my time in this role, and over these three games, I believe we’ve given the fans something to believe in. It’s certainly given me a lot to think about.”
While Ramsey stopped short of confirming an intention to take on the role permanently, he noted that discussions would be held in the near future. “There will be a few meetings going forward, and at some point clarity will be needed. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
On the pitch, the match unfolded in dramatic fashion. Norwich surged ahead dramatically in the first half, scoring three times within a frantic ten-minute spell. Marcelino Nuñez slotted in a Jack Stacey cross to open the scoring before adding an exquisite 25-yard free-kick. Cardiff found themselves reduced to ten men when Calum Chambers was sent off for pulling back Norwich striker Josh Sargent and denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Borja Sainz then notched his 19th goal of the season, further compounding Cardiff’s troubles.
Yet, even with the odds stacked against them, Cardiff’s resolve did not waver. Danish striker Yousef Salech pulled two goals back in the second half, either side of a towering header from Norwich’s Shane Duffy. Though ultimately defeated, Ramsey praised the fighting spirit his side exhibited under such difficult circumstances.
“We started really well. But then, in a couple of minutes, we were 2-0 down and a man short against a team contending for the top six. At that point, I was just proud of the effort the players put in,” he commented.
Interestingly, Ramsey’s opposite number, Norwich’s interim coach Jack Wilshere, is also considering a permanent transition into management. Wilshere, a former Arsenal team-mate of Ramsey’s, told the press he feels prepared to make a significant impact as head coach. “I feel like I am ready to make an impact at this level. I didn’t want to leave Arsenal until I was sure this was the path for me,” he said. Like Ramsey, Wilshere awaits further discussions with Norwich’s hierarchy about his future.
Norwich’s victory brought an end to a six-match winless streak and saw them conclude the season 13th in the Championship table. Wilshere expressed satisfaction at the result and praised his squad for their performance and their response to the challenge. “Getting a win in front of our fans was important and, once we settled in, we looked really dangerous going forward,” he remarked.
The end of the campaign leaves both clubs at a crossroads, with the futures of their interim managers up in the air—a situation that will be watched closely by both sets of supporters. For Cardiff City, attention now turns to summer decisions and rebuilding for the future, with Ramsey’s possible continued involvement sure to be a talking point in the weeks ahead.
