A Manchester man has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being convicted of raping a schoolgirl at a property in North Wales. The case, which was tried at Mold Crown Court, resulted in 32-year-old Ursaloan Ansari being found guilty following robust testimony and a thorough investigation by North Wales Police.

The harrowing incident took place in January 2022 at a house in Rhos-on-Sea, a seaside town in Conwy county. During the trial, the jury heard that Ansari drugged the young girl before proceeding to assault her. The victim, whose identity remains protected to shield her privacy, demonstrated significant courage throughout the legal process.

In addition to the 10-year custodial sentence handed down on Monday, 4 August 2025, Mr Ansari has been ordered to register as a sex offender for life. This lifelong listing will require him to regularly update police about his address and personal details, further tightening restrictions on his activities within the community.
The court also imposed a 10-year restraining order to safeguard the welfare of the victim, ensuring that Ansari is legally prohibited from contacting her in any way. An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also introduced, further aiming to protect the public and curb any future risk posed by Ansari.
Detective Constable Gavin Jones of North Wales Police expressed admiration for the victim’s composure and resilience. In a formal statement following sentencing, DC Jones said: “This was an incredibly difficult case, and I commend the bravery and strength of the victim throughout the investigation and trial process. Her willingness to speak out has ensured that justice has been served, and I hope today’s result provides some measure of closure for her and her family.”
He also took the opportunity to urge others who may have experienced sexual abuse to speak up, stating, “We will listen, we will support you, and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”
North Wales Police reiterated the force’s commitment to investigating all reports of sexual abuse, regardless of when the incidents occurred. A spokesperson said: “We take all reports of sexual abuse extremely seriously and will investigate fully, no matter how recently or how long ago it happened. We encourage anyone who has suffered sexual abuse in the past to come forward. We are here to listen and support you.”
Members of the public are reminded that they can contact police on 101, use the online portal on the North Wales Police website, or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously if they wish to report abuse or seek advice.
The case has prompted discussions in local communities about the importance of safeguarding children and the support systems available in Wales for victims of abuse. The proactive response from both law enforcement and the courts underlines a zero-tolerance approach to such crimes.
As the local area comes to terms with the outcome of this distressing case, support services have been highlighted for victims and families seeking assistance. The sentencing of Ursaloan Ansari is a reminder of both the severity with which these offences are dealt and the need for vigilance within communities when it comes to child protection.
