Major scandal unfolding in Hull! Robert Bush, a funeral director, is under intense scrutiny as he faces 63 charges following a shocking discovery at his premises. Over a decade-long investigation revealed numerous human remains at one of the sites managed by Legacy Independent Funeral Directors. Bush, 47, is accused of preventing lawful burials and committing fraud through false representation relating to these remains.

The charges also extend to fraud involving human ashes between August 2017 and March 2024. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s one count of fraudulent trading linked to funeral plans from May 2012 to March 2024. Shockingly, Bush is also alleged to have committed theft involving 12 charities, including well-known names like the Salvation Army and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Humberside Police initiated their probe after a report raised concerns about the care of the deceased in March last year. This sparked an overwhelming response, with more than 2,000 calls pouring in from worried families. The investigation spanned 10 gruelling months, focusing on the firm’s three sites across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Bush, formerly of Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, but now residing in Otley, West Yorkshire, is poised to enter his pleas at Hull Crown Court this Wednesday. As this case unfolds, it’s a stark reminder of the trust we place in those handling our loved ones’ final arrangements. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops. 🌟
