“Wake me from this nightmare.” These were the words of heartbroken parents, Maurizio and Ornella, after losing two sons in tragic motorbike accidents just months apart, while their third son suffered a devastating injury.

Michele Brugnaro, just 31, was first to lose his life last November in a motorbike crash near Venice. His brother, Alessio, faced his own tragedy in May, losing an arm while working with heavy machinery. The nightmare continued this past Saturday when Andrea, 47, was killed in a similar motorbike accident, close to where Michele’s accident occurred. Known for his love of motorbikes, Andrea was described as a cautious rider by friends. A dedicated bricklayer, he was deeply devoted to his wife, Alice, and their children, Daniel and Noemi.

Andrea leaves behind grieving family and friends, with his funeral set for Thursday, August 14, in Loreggia. His brother-in-law shared that after Michele’s passing, Andrea had changed, carrying immense grief with him.
Motorcycle crashes highlight the vulnerability of riders on the road. Riders are often unseen by drivers, particularly at junctions, leading to many of these tragic incidents. In the UK, motorcyclists are 50 times more likely to die in crashes than car drivers. Defensive riding, driver awareness, and proper safety gear are vital to lessen such risks.
Join us in remembering Michele and Andrea, and let’s rally for safer roads for all. 🏍️💙
