π’ Terrifying Day at the Fair: Dad’s Worst Nightmare π±

What started as a delightful day out for Matthew Baker and his family turned into an experience theyβd never forget at Coney Beach Amusement Park. His kids were thrilled to ride the Wacky Worm, dubbed a “perfect first thrill for children.” But the excitement turned to horror when the ride suddenly derailed, lifting off the rails with his three children on board.

Matthew shared how he watched in disbelief as the back of the ride crashed and bounced back, knocking down a section of security fencing. “I pushed my partner out of the way just in time,” he said, recalling the chaos. Along with other worried parents, he dashed to the ride, desperately trying to reach his youngsters.

“My 15-year-old daughter realised something was wrong,” Matthew said, and bravely shielded her younger brother, who is autistic and non-verbal. Although all three children sustained minor injuries – a busted lip, bruises, and a swollen jaw among them – the psychological scars are what’s hardest to deal with.
Park staff quickly gathered information and reattached fencing, while onlookers were urging for the park’s closure. Police arrived shortly after, as visitors demanded refunds and refused to leave until their voices were heard.
Matthew’s family, among the 14 people injured, were rushed to Morriston Hospital for checks and thankfully cleared. But as Matthew puts it, “Physically, there was nothing major. But mentally, it’s difficult.”
South Wales Police continue to investigate the incident, with the park remaining closed for now to ensure safety. Let’s hope Matthew and his family, and everyone else involved, find peace after such a terrifying ordeal. Stay safe, everyone! ππ
