Families were left heartbroken after being turned away from a Haven holiday park due to an unexpected water supply issue. Holidaymakers who had travelled to Presthaven Beach resort faced disappointment as the park had to cancel bookings over the weekend. A burst main from Welsh Water led to serious water pressure problems, and many resort facilities had to be shut down, leaving families in limbo.

Kimberley and her four children, who travelled from Salford for a much-anticipated summer break, arrived only to be informed they couldn’t stay due to the ongoing crisis. She described scenes of chaos, with children in tears and families frantically seeking alternative accommodations on their phones with little success.

“It was mayhem,” Kimberley explained, recounting the scramble to find somewhere to stay. Even the travel agents in Prestatyn couldn’t help, with no vacancies anywhere nearby. Haven has promised refunds for stays missed between August 15 and 18, but it didn’t cover the additional costs, like train fares and journey snacks, that families like Kimberley’s had to bear.
The park initially advised visitors to bring their own water as facilities were closing. However, the situation escalated, and holidaymakers and private lettings guests were told they couldn’t be accommodated. Over the weekend, Haven staff endured a tough situation, including dealing with frustrated guests.
The good news? The water supply has been restored as of Sunday, and the park is set to reopen, bringing relief to those scheduled to visit. However, for Kimberley and many others, the once-promised holiday now requires more saving and planning.
Here’s hoping the park’s once again ready for more summer fun, and future travellers can enjoy their breaks without any more hiccups! 🏖️✨
