Three years ago, Merseyside was deeply affected by the tragic shootings of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, Ashley Dale, and Sam Rimmer. Today, communities are showing renewed faith in their local police force. Thanks to a Home Office-funded initiative called Evolve, significant strides have been made to enhance safety and trust.

Since the launch of Evolve, there has been a remarkable 300% increase in community intelligence. This means more than 5,300 arrests have been made and authorities have seized over 630kg of illegal drugs, along with 260 weapons, 28 firearms, and £2.5 million in cash and assets. This money is being reinvested back into the community.
Detective Chief Superintendent Graeme Robson shared that the tragedies shook them deeply, but the positive reaction from the community has been empowering. People have been eager to collaborate with law enforcement to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Merseyside Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell highlighted the substantial increase in community-sourced intelligence as a cornerstone of Evolve’s success. Local partnerships have made great strides in combating crime and restoring a sense of safety.

Innovative community events, some in collaboration with Everton in the Community and the LFC Foundation, are bringing people together in positive ways. In addition, a memorial for Olivia has been funded, reflecting a commitment to honouring those lost.
Implemented in areas like Wirral, Netherton, and Everton, the reach and impact of the Evolve project continues to expand. According to Chief Constable Serena Kennedy, the initiative has disrupted criminal networks and protected vulnerable individuals, building trust and pride among residents.
The collective effort of officers, staff, partners, and residents is truly making a difference, creating safer neighbourhoods and fostering a supportive community spirit. The success of Evolve stands as a testament to what can be achieved when communities and law enforcement work hand in hand. Let’s continue to stand strong together!
