🌪️🐢 Stuck Tortoises? Holyhead’s Maureen Sears is on a mission to save her beloved tortoises from their “prison” in her own garden. After a wild storm last year knocked down her garden wall, her three tortoises, including 60-year-old Bosun, are trapped in their pens to prevent them from escaping through the gap. With the repairs taking forever, Maureen’s patience is wearing thin.

Having lived in her home for an impressive 47 years, Maureen is no stranger to life’s challenges. Last November, she was in hospital undergoing surgery when the storm hit, leaving her completely unaware of the garden destruction awaiting her return. Fast forward to today, and the wall remains a ruin due to lack of proper footing.

The tortoises, accustomed to roaming freely, now impatiently scratch at their pens, longing for the green grass under their feet. “Bosun used to love wandering into the house,” Maureen fondly recalls. With health issues of her own, including a nasty fall earlier this year, Maureen hopes for a quick fix.

Local councillor Pip O’Neill sheds light on the delay, citing communication issues and the need to balance priorities. But there’s hope on the horizon! Repairs are scheduled to start this week, bringing some much-needed relief and freedom to Maureen’s tortoises.
Let’s hope Bosun, Esmerelda, and Torty will soon be back to their adventures in the garden! 🌿🏡💚
