🔥 Passionate fans, fierce words, and a fight for the future! 🔥

On Tuesday night, 200 dedicated Scarlets fans filled the Quinnell Lounge at Parc y Scarlets. There was one burning question: Would the club consider a merger with fierce rivals, the Ospreys?

Facing pressure from the Welsh Rugby Union’s push to cut professional clubs, new investor Kirsi Jane Baker made her stance crystal clear: “We are only focused on Scarlets playing at Parc y Scarlets, playing in red, and being called the Scarlets.” Her defiant words sparked a thunderous round of applause, echoing the room’s unwavering sentiment.
For those who’ve supported the Scarlets for decades, the idea of structural change brings real concern. But Chairman Simon Muderack and Managing Director Jon Daniels both voiced optimism. Muderack didn’t mince words, stating, “The Scarlets are up for a fight.” They believe the fresh investment could lead the club to brighter times, but acknowledge changes in Welsh rugby are essential.
“Two clubs have gone bankrupt; the financials don’t support four teams,” Muderack highlighted, hinting that slimming down to two or three could be a path forward. Yet, he made it clear that the Scarlets have the strengths to be part of any future solution.
The meeting wasn’t all business. When some fans voiced disdain over past WRU decisions, others broke into the iconic song “Sospan Fach,” filling the space with unity and passion.
Kirsi Jane Baker addressed concerns about her company’s Montana base, assuring them it’s all about privacy for clients and nothing more. She shared that despite being relatively young, their firm has closed nearly £6bn in deals this year, showcasing its growing prowess in the US.
As the evening wrapped up, it was evident that while the Scarlets face challenges, both management and their loyal fans are ready to defend their beloved club. The fight for the Scarlets’ future is on, and they aren’t backing down without a fierce battle! 💪🔴
