Brides have been left heartbroken as Serenity Garden in Tenby is forced to shutter its doors. This picturesque Pembrokeshire venue, known for its alpacas, tipis, and glamping pods, has been ordered to stop hosting weddings due to planning disputes.

Operating without the necessary permissions since 2023, Serenity has been in hot water with Pembrokeshire County Council. Owner Rhys Lloyd fought tooth and nail, appealing the decision, but the Welsh Government body Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) ultimately ruled against him.

The venue’s charm, featuring everything from safari tents to a breathtaking rural backdrop, had won over many brides-to-be. However, with the deadline looming for removing structures, couples were left scrambling for alternatives. Megan Rose and Shannon Williams were among the devastated couples. Megan discovered issues when trying to confirm plans, while Shannon realised something was amiss when she found tents from her package being auctioned off online.

Both have since moved their cherished nuptials to new venues, but not without enduring considerable stress and financial loss. Megan hasn’t seen her deposit return, and Shannon was caught off guard by the unexpected chaos.

Mr Lloyd claims refunds are being processed and remains hopeful, stating, “We’ve invested everything into this venue and are committed to securing its future.”

Couples booked for future dates are still awaiting news as Serenity fights its final appeal. With rural vistas and animal companions, for many, this venue was the embodiment of their dream wedding.

As the saga unfolds, let’s hope brides are soon able to step into their happily-ever-afters without a hitch. 💍🌿
