The incident took place near Llyn Bochlwyd, a serene lake nestled in the Glyderau mountain range. The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (OVMRO) responded swiftly, marking their 129th call-out this year and sixth one to the Tryfan area just in August alone. Our hearts go out to the victimโ€™s family and friends during this difficult time.

In a twist of fate, the same day saw OVMRO volunteers back at Tryfan for a challenging night-time rescue mission. Two climbers found themselves stranded on the Pinnacle Rib route, needing dramatic assistance. A team member bravely descended 300ft from Tryfan’s north ridge to help, securing head torches to the stranded climbers and raising them one at a time to safety. By early Sunday, they were safely back on the road.

Just five days earlier, on August 18, the team was called for another rescue on the same mountain when a climber suffered a suspected fractured ankle on Grooved Arete. Swift assistance from fellow climbers and the mountain rescue team saw the injured party safely airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

These events highlight the unpredictable and often dangerous nature of mountain adventures. A big shout out to all the dedicated mountain rescue volunteers who work tirelessly to keep everyone safe. Stay cautious and prepared out there, folks! ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’š
