Here’s what’s happening: The DWP is wrapping up the transition from old ‘legacy benefits’ to Universal Credit. This shift has been in the works for a few years and impacts benefits like Child and Working Tax Credits, Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Housing Benefit.

🗓️ Key Dates:
– Migration began full-scale in April 2023 and is expanding across Great Britain.
– Tax Credit will be the first to go in April 2025.
– All legacy benefits will stop by March 2026.

If you’ve received a migration notice, you’ve got three months from the date on the letter to make your Universal Credit claim or risk losing your benefits. The transition process for around 800,000 recipients of income-related ESA, and those who receive both ESA and Housing Benefit, has been sped up, and they have already started receiving notices.

📍 Timeline Highlights:
– April 2024: Notices sent to those on Income Support and some on tax credits.
– June 2024: Notices for households with Housing Benefit only.
– September 2024: Starting migration for income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA).
– December 2025: All ESA claimants will be notified.

The clock is ticking, so make sure you’re informed and ready to make any necessary claims. Stay proactive, and don’t miss out on your entitlements!
