🚗💸 Heads up, drivers! The DVLA has issued a crucial reminder: Pay your vehicle tax on time or face a hefty £1,000 fine!

In the latest advisory, motorists are being warned not to skip this step. Vehicle tax, sometimes called road tax, helps keep our roads in tip-top shape. Forgetting to pay could not only lighten your wallet but could also escalate to court proceedings.
The DVLA’s clear message is: “Tax on time. Tax online.” So, how can you stay on the right side of the law? To get started, you’ll need one of the following:
– A recent reminder or “last chance” notice

– Your vehicle log book (V5C) in your name
– The green “new keeper” slip if you’ve just acquired the vehicle
If these documents are missing, don’t panic! You can apply for a replacement. Once you have everything in order, you can pay online or by calling 0300 123 4321, using a debit or credit card, or setting up a Direct Debit. Even if you’re exempt from paying, registration is still a must!
There are some exceptions, though. Vehicles used by disabled individuals or groups providing transport for them often qualify for exemptions. Make sure you’ve got the necessary proof to claim it. Similarly, cars made before 1 January 1985, as well as mobility devices like scooters and wheelchairs under certain conditions, are exempt.
Electric heavy goods vehicles are also off the hook. Keep in mind, a rule change this April now means electric cars, vans, motorcycles, and tricycles, as well as hybrids, are subject to tax.
💡 Pro-tip: If your vehicle is exempt or you believe it should be, double-check its status on the Government website to avoid any surprises.
Remember, not taxing your vehicle could lead to it being clamped and more charges piling up, so don’t delay. Stay compliant, keep rolling, and avoid those penalties! 🚙✨ #VehicleTax #DVLA #StayLegal #RoadReady
