🚗💡 Attention drivers! There’s a £1,000 fine you need to know about! As of September 1, 2025, new cars are sporting the latest 75 registration plates. While that might sound simple, there’s a catch if you don’t play by the rules!

🔍 Got your plates right? Car valuation experts have flagged that too many drivers still aren’t sure about number plate regulations. Mistakes might seem minor but could lead to MOT failures or hefty fines. Make sure your plates adhere to the rules!
📅 FYI: Number plates get updated twice a year—on March 1 and September 1. If your car was registered between March and August 2025, it should have 25 plates. From September onwards, it’s the 75 plates taking the spotlight.

🎨 What’s crucial? Your plates must be made from reflective materials. The front should show black characters on a white backdrop, while the back should have black characters on yellow. Crucially, the letters and numbers must use the approved font, size, and spacing.
🇬🇧 From September 2021, plates must meet the BS AU 145e standard and show British Standard markings. Even tiny errors—or missing markings—can lead to big issues.
🚨 Quick tips: Keep those plates legal to avoid unexpected fines. Even small tweaks in spacing or use of incorrect materials can land you in hot water.
