We’re saddened to share the news of Daphne Stallard, who tragically lost her life in a collision with a recycling lorry in Llandudno. Daphne was 89 and leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. Her family fondly describes her as a “bright shining light” at the heart of their lives. Not only a devoted mother to Mary, Andrew, and John, Daphne was a cherished Mam-gu, always supporting her children and grandchildren.

With a lifetime dedicated to helping others, Daphne trained as a scientist at Cambridge and later became head of chemistry at a top girls’ school in Birmingham. Even in retirement, she remained vibrant and active, continuing to volunteer and take part in community activities. Her commitment to her church and passion for aiding others made her a beloved figure to many.

Daphne shared a wonderful life with her late husband, Rev’d Charles Stallard. The pair notably climbed Snowdon together to celebrate her 80th birthday. Her sudden passing is a devastating blow, yet the family takes solace in the belief that she is now reunited with Charles.

North Wales Police are investigating the incident and are urging anyone who was in the Brookes Street area at the time to come forward with any information that might assist their inquiry. If you have details, please reach out to their Serious Collision Investigation Unit through the NWP website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000723615.
While we mourn the passing of such an incredible woman, we celebrate the love and joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. Daphne would have celebrated her 90th birthday this month—her memory and spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine brightly for all who knew her.
