In a shocking incident that has left the community buzzing, a Manchester restaurant is reeling from a bold ‘dine and dash.’ Sai Surbhi, an Indian eatery in Urmston, claims two families racked up a £190 bill feasting on curries, sides, and children’s meals—before slipping away without settling up!

Owners Raman and Narinder, who also run a spot in Preston, shared their story with the Manchester Evening News. Raman said the families called ahead to book a table for four but turned up as a crowd of eight. After enjoying their meals, the group reportedly tried multiple bank cards and called friends in a failed attempt to pay, eventually leaving without promise or payment. They pledged to return the next day to pay, but it’s been 11 days, and the till is still empty.

Taking matters into their own hands, the restaurant has released CCTV images of the alleged culprits in hopes of protecting other local businesses from similar deceit. They’ve received an outpouring of community support, with many eager to help spread the word.

This incident has thrown a spotlight on the growing issue of customers dodging their bills—a trend that sees hardworking restaurateurs footing the bill. Raman’s frustration is palpable: “The majority come to enjoy their meal and pay, but it’s happening too often. It’s tough on businesses.”
While such acts of dishonesty may be happening more frequently, the Sai Surbhi owners are buoyed by the incredible local support. Let’s rally around our beloved eateries and ensure they thrive amidst these challenges! 🍛💪 #SupportLocalBusiness #CommunitySpirit
