Exciting news for Welsh football fans! The Wales football team is set to bring the action back to Cardiff’s iconic Principality Stadium. This return comes as part of the preparations for Euro 2028, where Wales will join England, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland in co-hosting the tournament.

The prestigious stadium, which can hold up to 74,500 fans, hasn’t seen regular football since 2018, with the national team calling the smaller Cardiff City Stadium their home in recent years. But with Euro fever building, the team is gearing up to get familiar with the grand venue again.

FAW’s chief executive, Noel Mooney, emphasises the importance of rekindling the team’s connection with the stadium, aiming to leverage that home advantage for a robust showing at the tournament. “While Cardiff City Stadium remains dear to us, playing at the Principality is crucial as we head into 2028,” Mooney explained.
There’s more to be excited about; Mooney also hinted at more matches potentially happening at Wrexham’s historic Stok Cae Ras, currently being revamped by Hollywood heavyweights, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. This historic ground is not only eyeing regular matches but also looks forward to possibly hosting events during the 2035 women’s World Cup as part of a UK bid.
In addition, discussions are underway to bring the 2029 Women’s Champions League final to the Principality Stadium. With such thrilling developments, Welsh football is set to light up the scene with some top-tier matches and memorable moments. Football fans, gear up for a return to the gallant stadium that promises excitement and fervour! 🏟️⚽🎉
