A routine drink-driving stop turned into something much bigger and more serious for one Milford Haven local. Ieuan Beckerleg, 30, was pulled over by police in the early hours, reportedly driving erratically. When officers approached the car, Beckerleg allegedly smelled of alcohol, which a breathalyser test later confirmed.

But that’s only where the story begins. Upon searching his vehicle, officers discovered 4.6g of cocaine in snap-seal bags, £1,400 in cash, and a “tick list” of customers on his phone. This cache led to further investigations and a court case where Beckerleg was sentenced to 28 months in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

The court was told that Beckerleg’s life had spiralled out of control due to his use of alcohol and cocaine, alongside issues with gambling. All this had reportedly led to the breakdown of his relationship with his partner, magnified by recent family health worries.

Judge Catherine Richards, overseeing the case, highlighted that involvement in the drug trade leads to harsh consequences, as Class A drugs wreck lives not just for users but their families too—a reality Beckerleg knows all too well.
The search of Beckerleg’s home didn’t uncover more drugs but did turn up £1,500 in cash and numerous empty snap-seal bags. The messages found on his phone indicated Beckerleg’s more significant role in drug supply, countering his defence that the cocaine was for his personal use.
With a discount for his guilty plea, Beckerleg will serve up to half his sentence behind bars, then on licence in the community. His past convictions, including drink-driving, paint a picture of a man whose choices have caught up with him.
This case serves as a sobering reminder of the risks and irreversible changes that come with decisions around drugs and alcohol. Stay aware and stay safe!
