In a sombre day for Manchester, we share the first image of Melvin Cravitz, one of two cherished community members tragically killed in a shocking attack outside Heaton Park synagogue during Yom Kippur. Melvin, 66, along with Adrian Daulby, 53, lost their lives when a terror suspect drove into a crowd of worshippers before spreading further terror with a knife.

The suspect, Jihad Al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent, was shot dead by police at the scene. Greater Manchester Police are delving into the motives behind this devastating act, treating it as a terrorism incident. Three of the injured remain hospitalised with serious injuries, and our hearts go out to all affected during this time of fear and grief.
There’s a tangible tension in Manchester today, with a significant police presence around the neighbourhood. Officers are stationed at Langley Crescent, outside the residence of the alleged attacker, while reporters gather nearby to bring updates.

Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes expressed profound sympathies to the families of Melvin and Adrian, assuring them of ongoing support and sensitivity throughout the investigation.

Let us stand together and share our thoughts and prayers with the victims and their families, remembering the spirit of community and support that binds us all. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of unity and resilience in face of such adversity. Stay safe, everyone.
