After a journey filled with ups and downs, the beloved burger joint, The MAG (formerly Meat and Greet Co.), has officially closed its doors. Nestled in the picturesque Dulais Valley, The MAG was celebrated for its mouth-watering burgers and street food. But despite their best efforts—expanding from a modest café to an evening grill and street food hotspot—the financial pressures were insurmountable.

Geth opened up about the struggles faced by the hospitality industry, describing it as an “unprecedented difficult time”. After a post-COVID boom, they faced dwindling numbers due to economic challenges affecting disposable incomes.

Running any small business is a labour of love, but also one of sacrifice. Geth candidly spoke about how the restaurant took a toll on his personal life, echoing sentiments shared by many in the industry. Yet, while this chapter ends, there’s a silver lining: The team’s pop-up at Founders & Co in Swansea and their newer venture, Go MAG, are brimming with potential and enthusiasm.

Geth remains optimistic, stating, “We are massively positive about Founders & Co. It’s an ecosystem of cool, independent businesses supporting each other. We’re excited to grow with them!”

While The MAG in Banwen will be missed dearly, the team’s spirit and passion shine brighter than ever. Here’s to new beginnings! 🍔✨
