💔 From Headaches to Hope: Verity Phillips’ Journey 💔

Imagine thinking those pesky headaches were just from new medication, only to discover they were symptoms of something far more dangerous. This was the reality for Verity Phillips, a 35-year-old mum from Immingham, Lincolnshire, who was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer after suddenly collapsing at work.

She initially attributed her nausea and headaches to new fibromyalgia medication. However, a swift trip to Hull Royal Infirmary revealed the shocking presence of a glioblastoma—a devastating news for Verity and her family.
In February 2022, Verity braved an operation to remove 89% of the tumour, followed by intensive rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite her diagnosis predicting just 12 to 18 months to live, Verity remains strong three years on. She continues to defy the odds with stable MRI results, proving resilience knows no bounds.
Verity reflects: “I grieved hard for the life I thought I’d lost, then decided I wasn’t going to let this define me.” With her devoted husband, Danny, and their four children, she remains a beacon of hope, spreading awareness and raising funds for brain tumour research.
The family has raised over £7,000, including more than £1,000 from a challenging 274-mile cycling feat—symbolising the journey between the charity’s four Centres of Excellence in the UK. Together, they champion the cause for more research and better outcomes for families affected by such tumultuous diagnoses.
Danny shares how their world was turned upside down: “Verity has been incredible. The kids have been troopers too—stepping up when needed. These family challenges give us hope and show others they’re not alone.”
Verity’s inspiring journey and fundraising efforts are making waves, driving home the critical need for more research into glioblastoma. Her message is powerful: hope is vital. She envisions a future where her story helps in unlocking new treatments, giving other families a fighting chance.
