Late-night water drama in Dinas Powys! 🌊💦 Residents were rudely awakened when a water main burst, transforming St Davids Avenue into a makeshift waterfall. The cascade of water turned residential steps into an unexpected water feature, threatening homes in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Local councillor Malcolm Phillips was among those who witnessed the torrent in the early hours of the morning. He shared, “I saw flashing lights outside and then realised it was a flood. Water was gushing down the street!”

Despite it taking 10 hours to isolate the burst pipe, Welsh Water managed to keep most people supplied with water by Sunday morning, using tankers to maintain pressure. They completed repairs by Monday afternoon and explained that shifts in soil conditions after a dry summer have caused multiple bursts across their network.
While one property suffered flooding, others experienced surface water issues. Welsh Water has apologised for the disruption, attributing this and other recent leaks to the changing seasons and promising round-the-clock readiness to tackle further issues.
As we edge into winter, concerns grow over ongoing leaks and infrastructure reliability. Cllr Phillips has requested a meeting with Welsh Water to discuss these pressing issues, especially as the chilly months approach.
Stay tuned for updates on how Welsh Water plans to address these challenges and keep your homes safe and dry. Meanwhile, locals are urged to stay vigilant for further leaks or infrastructure issues.
