Lisa’s journey began in September 2024, when a seizure at 38 weeks of pregnancy led to an emergency C-section. Believing her unexplained seizures were nerve troubles or a kidney infection, doctors finally identified the real issue: a meningioma. This brain tumour was the culprit behind the years of tingling sensations, leg weakness, headaches, and blurred vision.

Post-surgery in December 2024, Lisa spent the early months of Noah’s life in and out of hospital, grappling with epilepsy due to the tumour’s pressure on her brain. The challenges were many, but what broke her heart was being unable to bond with Noah as she had dreamt.

Lisa, who chose to have a baby through IVF after her marriage ended in 2021, shares, “I always dreamt of becoming a mum, but it wasn’t until January this year that I truly felt like one. Although left with lingering mental and physical effects, I am grateful every day for my little, beautiful boy.”

Now, Lisa is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for brain tumour research. She recently participated in the Walk of Hope and has more fundraising plans in the works. Her goal? To ensure nobody else has to go through such an ordeal without hope and support.

“Brain tumours receive a shockingly low amount of funding in cancer research,” Lisa remarks. “By sharing my story, I aim not only to collect vital donations but also to spread awareness and empower others to make a difference.”
