🏉 Big news in the Rugby World Cup world! The 2027 tournament in Australia is gearing up to be a thrilling event with 24 teams, but there’s one big twist. Just one spot is left, and it’ll be decided in Dubai this November during the Final Qualification Tournament (FQT).

Four teams—Samoa, Namibia, Belgium, and Paraguay—are fighting for the final ticket Down Under. It’s all happening over three match days, where these teams will battle it out round-robin style. Only one will emerge victorious and claim the last place.
Here’s the kicker: both Samoa and Namibia have been Rugby World Cup regulars for decades, with Samoa playing in every tournament since 1991 and Namibia since 1999. But this time, they could both be left out, making room for debutants Belgium or Paraguay!

Samoa, despite their strong Rugby World Cup history, were shocked by Chile last month, losing 63-44 on aggregate, while Namibia earned their place in the FQT by defeating the UAE. Belgium and Paraguay have also shown their strengths, besting tough competition in their respective qualifiers.
World Rugby Chair Brett Robinson calls this tournament the ultimate test. Whoever comes out on top will join the 20 teams already set, including the usual powerhouses from the Six Nations and Rugby Championship, along with rising stars like Georgia, Spain, and Hong Kong.
