A troubling new issue is emerging—anonymity for dismissed police officers. Recently, an off-duty South Wales officer, let’s call him “Officer Y”, was fired for disturbing “predatory behaviour” in a gym, yet his name and rank remain under wraps! 🤔

📷 The shady actions? Covert photos of gym-goers, creepy messages via an Instagram alias, and disturbing content sent without permission. Gross, right? The misconduct hearing, chaired by assistant chief constable Jenny Gilmer, decided to protect his identity. The claim? Revealing it would cause “embarrassment” and harm his family. Where’s the accountability? 🤷‍♀️

The case didn’t make it to court, though CCTV caught him red-handed, camera in hand, snapping away. Instead of prosecution for malicious communications, it fizzled out. Why? Evidential inadequacies, they say! 🤔

Apart from Officer Y, another officer, known as “Officer F”, faced similar secrecy. Despite criminal acts like leaking information from police systems, he walked away with just a caution and anonymity intact. Is this fair? Are typical citizens granted such leniency? Probably not! 🕵️‍♂️❌

And what about holding the police accountable? Emma Wools, South Wales’ police and crime commissioner, gets public funds to do just that but has been oddly quiet. 🤐

These events aren’t just about the police force sweeping misconduct under the rug. They make us question: is justice truly being served or merely seen? Lord Chief Justice Hewart’s words ring true—justice must be both done and SEEN to be done! 🙌
